  1. Get 1 glass classic basmati India gate rice
  2. Take 1 bowl green peas shells
  3. Prepare 1 medium size potato chopped in small cubes
  4. Prepare 2 onion chopped
  5. Get 2 tomatoes chopped
  6. Take 1 bowl cauliflower and carrot chopped optional
  7. Make ready 1 tea spoon garlic paste
  8. Take 1 small piece of ginger chopped
  9. Prepare 2 bay leaves, 4 green cardamom and teaspoon cumin seeds
  10. Take 1 tea spoon garam masala powder
  11. Get 1 / 4 teaspoon turmeric and red chilli powder each
  12. Take 2 tea spoon coriander powder
  13. Make ready as needed Oil to cook
  14. Make ready to taste Salt
  15. Get 1 and 1/4 glass of water
  16. Get As required Fresh coriander leaves finely chopped
  17. Prepare 2 Tablespoon desi ghee
  18. Make ready 2 table spoon curd

This is one of my favorite childhood meals. Tahri (also tehri, tehari or tayari) is a yellow rice dish in Awadhi cuisine. Spices are added to plain cooked rice for flavor and colour. In one version of Tehri, potatoes are added to the rice.

Instructions to make Tehri:
  1. First put pressure cooker on flame add oil, bay leaves, cumin seeds and cardamom, crackle it the add chopped onion fry it till it turns light brown add spices and cook it for some time then add chopped tomatoes, stir it for a while then add two spoon curd and cook it for two three minutes.
  2. Meanwhile wash rice and keep it aside.
  3. Add all the vegetables, stir it for five minutes add ginger and garlic paste add rice and salt, stir it for two minutes then add water, add garam masala and close the lid and cook for a whistle, keep the flame low for ten second and put off the gas.
  4. Wait yo release the steam, serve it hot, spread deshi ghee and garnish it with coriander leaves.the smell and flavor is too tempting to resist.
