Tehri is rice dish blended with a bunch of spices, cooked in mustard oil and the mixed veggies make it a healthy meal. Tehri is very easy one pot meal, which my mom used to prepare mostly on Sundays. It really tastes good to have with raita, pickle and can be prepared in very less time.

The ingredients needed to make Tehri:
  1. Take 1 cup rice
  2. Make ready 1 medium sized onion
  3. Get 1 medium sized tomato
  4. Prepare 1 tbsp chilli ginger paste
  5. Take to taste Salt
  6. Prepare 4-5 curry leaves
  7. Take 1 tsp cumin seeds
  8. Prepare Pinch asafoetida
  9. Take 1/2 cup chopped vegetables(potato,cauliflower,peas,carrots etc)
  10. Get 1 tsp garam masala
  11. Make ready Pinch turmeric powder
  12. Take 1/2 tsp coriander powder
  13. Prepare 2 tbsp cooking oil
  14. Get as required Coriander chopped for garnish

This is one of my favorite childhood meals. Tahri (also tehri, tehari or tayari) is a yellow rice dish in Awadhi cuisine. Spices are added to plain cooked rice for flavor and colour. In one version of Tehri, potatoes are added to the rice.

Instructions to make Tehri:
  1. Wash and soak rice for 2 hours.finely chopped all the vegetables of your choice and keep aside. Take a heavy bottom pan or pressure cooker and add some oil put cumin seeds pinch asafoetida curry leaves onions and saute for 2 min then add tomatoes all masalas like salt turmeric chilli powder coriander powder garam masala and add chopped vegetables and mix well.
  2. Add rice to it and 2 cups of water and close the lid and if pressure cooker then make 2 whistles.Remove the lid and serve by garnishing it with fresh coriander leaves.

This dish is most popular in Hyderabad and Nanded. Tehri is a city and a municipal board in Tehri Garhwal District in the Indian state of Uttarakhand. It is the administrative seat of Tehri Garhwal District. Tehri is an ancient place and it is one of the most sacred cities in India. The diverse nature of the Hindu religion has attracted foreign visitors here from all around the world.
