Tehri is one of the most favored of recent trending foods on earth. It’s enjoyed by millions daily. It is simple, it is quick, it tastes yummy. Tehri is something that I’ve loved my entire life. They’re fine and they look wonderful.

Tehri is rice dish blended with a bunch of spices, cooked in mustard oil and the mixed veggies make it a healthy meal. Tehri is very easy one pot meal, which my mom used to prepare mostly on Sundays. It really tastes good to have with raita, pickle and can be prepared in very less time.

To begin with this particular recipe, we have to prepare a few ingredients. You can have tehri using 18 ingredients and 9 steps. Here is how you cook that.

The ingredients needed to make Tehri:
  1. Take 1-1/2 cups Basmati rice 1 Onion, thinly sliced 2 Tomatoes
  2. Get 1 onion
  3. Take 2 tomatoes
  4. Prepare 2 tablespoons Ginger Garlic Paste
  5. Take 1/2 cup Curd
  6. Take 1 teaspoon Red chilli powder
  7. Prepare 2 teaspoon Coriander Powder
  8. Make ready 1 teaspoon Garam masala powder
  9. Take 1/4 cup Mint Leaves
  10. Make ready 2 Green Chillies, slit
  11. Prepare 1 Star anise
  12. Make ready 1 Bay leaf
  13. Get 4 Cloves
  14. Take 2 Cardamoms
  15. Prepare 1 tablespoon Lemon juice
  16. Take 2 tablespoons Ghee
  17. Take as per taste salt
  18. Make ready 1 Cubed potatoes

This is one of my favorite childhood meals. Veg tehri recipe - Tehri, tehari or tahari is a one pot dish originated from the Awadhi cuisine. It is mildly spicy, delicious & flavorful. It is most commonly eaten for a meal in North India.

Instructions to make Tehri:
  1. To begin making the Tehri Recipe, wash and soak the basmati rice in enough water until further cooking.
  2. Heat ghee in a heavy bottomed pan, drain the potatoes from water, dry them using a kitchen towel and then fry in the ghee until they turn golden in colour. Drain them on a kitchen towel and keep aside.
  3. In the same pan, add the whole garam masalas including star anise, bay leaf, cloves, green cardamoms, cinnamon stick and let them release it's aroma into the ghee.
  4. Add the thinly sliced onions and saute until they turn brown. Add the ginger garlic paste and saute for 2 minutes.
  5. Add in the tomatoes and slit green chillies and saute till the tomatoes turn mushy
  6. Now whisk in the red chilli powder, coriander, and garam masala into a bowl of curd to a smooth texture and add it to the pan.
  7. Add the fresh coriander and min leaves and cook this mixture until all the masalas are well combined and the oil separates out.
  8. Now, drain and add the soaked basmati rice to the pan, fried potatoes, 2-1/2 cups of water, season with salt, lemon juice and let it simmer for 20 minutes with the lid closed until the rice and baby potatoes are cooked.
  9. Once the rice and potatoes are cooked, switch off the heat, fork up the rice and mix gently.

This is a variation of the Veg pulao recipe, but includes spice powders too. Tahri (also tehri, tehari or tayari) is a yellow rice dish in Awadhi cuisine. Spices are added to plain cooked rice for flavor and colour. In one version of Tehri, potatoes are added to the rice. This dish is most popular in Hyderabad and Nanded.
